At Long Last!

September 10, 2006

Many apologies for the long delay in updating the website. I have lots of excuses, but the one I prefer to use is that I’ve been playing too much disc golf (is there such a thing?). Regardless of my excuse let’s hit a couple of highlights of the last 2 months:

1. VT STATES – Vermonters in general and some GMDGC members in particular showed the rest of New England how disc golf is done in VT! First we want to say many thanks to Paul Olander, Dan Desch and the rest of the North Calais Disc Golf Club put on an amazing tournament with first class competition and a setting that just can’t be beat. There is really no other way to say it – these guys Rock!

Anne Lewis, GMDGCer from Waterbury, just edged out Heather Valerio (another GMDGCer) to win the Adv Am Women’s division and Pete Hess, GMDGC Treasurer and Web Slacker, held off a few other New Englanders to take the Adv Amateur Open division. Pete was also 1 stroke behind Southern Vermonter, Kurt Waggoner who will be representing the state of VT at the USDGC later in October. Good luck Kurt!

2. Marshall Street Disc Golf Championship – OK, if you don’t know what the MSDGC is… just go to the MSDGC website and check it out for youself. In short, it is one of the premier disc golf tournaments in the world and this year featured the best of the best, Barry Schultz, along with a number of other touring pros, both male and female. Vermont was represented by a few of your fellow GMDGC members. Team Vermont included Dave Frothingham, Ben Parker, Pete Hess and Anne Lewis. Lots of disc was played, lots of fun was had (some pictures to be posted shortly will confirm this) and I would highly recommend that even if you don’t want to play, you should go check out this tournament next year. It is event worth watching.

See you on the course.
