The Ice Bucket Cometh!
That’s right, the 2010 GMDGC Ice Bucket date has been locked down and secured.
Consider this your save the date warning: This year’s fun in the snow fund raiser will be on January 30th, 2010 at Center Chains in Waterbury. The event will be an official Ice Bowl Tournament.
Now, since I have nothing else to really tell you as yet. Here is a photo from last year’s Ice Bowl.

Rounds start at 12pm at Center Chains in Waterbury Center for single tag fun and then 2pm doubles to win some money ($5 per person) followed [...]
November 2009
It is sad times, too dark to play disc after work, and soon enough we will be breaking out the ribbons for deep snow disc. But we had some fun this month- Johnson Shootout, Stick Season Open at Harwood, and Twin Falls Finals. Congratulations to the winners at Johnson: Johnny Betts, Juanny Nelson and Brooks [...]
TNT Sept 24
Well its getting colder and darker so tonight we play from the WHITE TEES at Waterbury doubles or triples depending on the numbers. That also means that there are a lot more ace potentials and the Ace Pot is at $185…..I think we may have to ban Ace Carter……Lets try and get organized BY 530pm!!!

Ace Race!
Each Autumn, disc golfers from around the world gather at their local courses for one purpose: to throw aces! No putting, no approaching… just runnin’ at the chains.
To add to the challenge and excitement, players all throw the same model disc: in past years this has been a brand new, never-seen-before Discraft prototype disc that is introduced each year especially for Ace Race. All players get two discs, plus a hat and mini. Player’s package is valued at $55, and your entry fee is only $25!

Changes @ Center Chains
Dear Vermont Disc Golfers, As a result of the compromise reached between the Town, the course neighbors, and disc golfers there have been some changes made to the layout of the Center Chains Disc Golf Course. The #6, #8, and #9 Blue Tees have been eliminated, and in the future the #5 basket will be relocated [...]

Trouble at Center Chains
For those who read the forum this is not news, but for those who don’t please take a read through this important message. As the number of people using Center Chains has increased, there have been an increasing number of people using the disc golf course who are less engaged with the GMDGC and less [...]
TNT Results 6/4/09
Well, 16 people came to play on a very nice Thursday evening. Our winners-Juanny, Jordan and Hazen managed to take the prize money with 8 under par. Nice playing guys. A few 6 under pars were just not quite enough to overcome them. Just remember to get to the pavillion before 530pm so you don’t miss the action!!
TNT-5/28/09
A few days later we barely remember the cold rainy night at Waterbury where only SEVEN people attended…we played doubles, and Frothy took home the cash playing straight up singles with a score of 52-the only one under par. We have also renamed our member Jed as “THUD”-watch out for the slippery rock on 4. Come out next week we will be there rain or shine.
Friendly Reminder for those with 4-Legged Friends
Hey Everyone. Just a friendly reminder that Hope Davey Park (home of Center Chains disc golf course in Waterbury Center) has a requirement that dogs are on-leash. This includes on the disc golf course. A couple of neighbors of the park have mentioned some violations to the town and the town has in turn come [...]
5/21/09 TNT Results
Big congratulations are in order for Owen, James S and Justin F as they took down the rest of us with a top score of 46 (-8) tonight. We had a record number for turnout-24 people. Nice putting Owen!! Quite a few 48′s out there but not enough to surpass these guys. Hopefully we continue with record turnouts (and cash to be won) for next week-
The Bucket is Full
The Sap Bucket that is.
We have again managed to completely fill the Sap Bucket Open with a couple of weeks to spare which is a great thing for the tourney, but unforutnate for anyone who has yet to sign up. We have started a wait list. To get on the list,
TNT-First of 2009!!
Between the raindrops we had 16 players for our first TNT of the season at the Waterbury Course. Good to see the old faces and the new as well. The hot score was 8 under par(46), so Andy P, Kathy H, and Frothy walked away with the cash.

Calais Work Night (and some other thoughts)
Well – in case you haven’t noticed… its been raining and snowing for the last few days across Vermont. Accordingly tonight’s weekly work night at North Calais is cancelled since people on the course will likely do more harm then good.
On a related note,
Double Take
Is that really the GMDGC website, you say? Well, yes it is.
Now that you’ve managed to get back in your chair, take some time to check out the brand spankin’ new GMDGC website. As compared to the Model-A that we used to be driving this website has more features than I can possibly list, but I will try anyway:
Thank you from the Waterbury Area Food Shelf
Thanks to everyone who came out and played in the Ice Bucket III this year. We raised an incredible amount of money for a very worth cause. Below is a thank you letter we received from the food shelf:
Dear Mr. Hess:
On behalf of the Waterbury Area Food Shelf, I would like to extend a HUGE thank you
to you and all of the members of the Green Mountain Disc Golf Club for your generous
donation of $2,288.00.
Ice Bucket III
Its winter, the temps are dipping below 0, most people have traded in the disc golf bag for the skis and snowshoes and that can mean only one thing: its time for the 2009 Waterbury Center Ice Bowl – The Ice Bucket III. As in years past, the Ice Bucket is part of a nation wide series of tournaments held in the cold winter months to raise money for local food-based charities. A list of all participating tournaments can be found at the official Ice Bowl website.
Last year the Ice Bucket II raised $830 for the Waterbury Area Food Shelf. This year we hope to top $1500. This year more than ever folks who are having trouble making ends meet rely on organizations like the Food Shelf to keep their families fed. All the money raised through your entry fees, purchase of mulligans and straight up donations goes directly to the food shelf. Prizes for the tourney are donated by generous local companies and organizations.
Annual Meeting Minutes
Hey Folks. The GMDGC held their annual meeting on Dec 7. We reviewed last years finances, the budget for the upcoming year and held elections. The detailed meetings notes are found here.
