Trouble at Center Chains
For those who read the forum this is not news, but for those who don’t please take a read through this important message.
As the number of people using Center Chains has increased, there have been an increasing number of people using the disc golf course who are less engaged with the GMDGC and less familiar with the rules/etiquette surrounding the sport. Recently neighbors of the park have raised some issues with the town regarding dogs that are off-leash and use of alcohol within the park (both of which are against the park rules). Failing to follow the rules of the park is putting the long term future of the disc golf course at risk. Please consider the following:
1) ALWAYS follow the rules.
2) Don’t be afraid to politely ask others to follow the rules as well – most people take it quite well when they understand their actions are putting the course at risk.
3) Consider taking some extra time when you are out playing the course to help spread the word about this issue. Many people play in the summer evenings – spend some time at hole 1 chatting with the folks that come through and educate them of the issues.
4) There is a small meeting with the town of Waterbury on this issue coming up. If you are a Waterbury resident and would like to support this meeting, please contact Matt Alberghini, 802 310 5277.
Disc Golf in Public spaces is rare in VT and it is something we need to preserve. Please do your part and don’t take this resource for granted. THANKS!
