The Vineyard Social VI Re-Cap
| Martha’s Vineyard Friday |
Almost 20 Vermonters went on a road trip to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts to play the 6th Vineyard Social Tournament on March 20th. For many it was the first chance to earn New England Flying Disc Association (NEFA) Points, but for everyone it was the first day of Spring and a perfect way to spend a Saturday.
And Vermonters placed well too. Chris Young and Dave Frothingham placed 9th and 16th with scores of 117 and 123 respectively. Of course Anne Lewis came in first for Female Pros with a 136. All the pros and advanced divisions played from the Red Tees in the morning and finished the day from the Blue Tees. That’s two tough courses back to back and here’s how the scores for Vermonters played out in those divisions:
| |
| Name | Round 1 | Round 2 | Total |
| Chris Young | 56 | 61 | 117 |
| Jim Conroy | 59 | 63 | 122 |
| David Frothingham | 57 | 66 | 123 |
| Chris Wilson | 61 | 63 | 124 |
| James Sweat | 59 | 66 | 125 |
| Steve Viglas | 66 | 60 | 126 |
| Josh Rappeport | 58 | 69 | 127 |
| Taylor Johnson | 63 | 66 | 129 |
| Anne Lewis | 66 | 70 | 136 |
The rest of the divisions played from the White Tees for the first round, then finished up on the Red Tees. Not easy courses, especially in the Vineyard’s windy afternoons, but definitely a break from the Blue Tees. Christian Keidel came in first for Vermont with a combined score of 116, which also landed him 2nd place for AM2. Matti-o Cohen nailed the number 3 spot with a combined 121. Here’s how the rest of the Vermonter scores breakdown.

Vermont made a great showing. The weather was a perfect 75 degrees while back home there Waterbury was still closed for mud-season and almost every other course is still covered in snow. This was the perfect weekend getaway. A good time was had by all. I’ll leave you with a photo of Chris Young trying to win a brand new portable basket in the Ring of Fire competition. See you at the next tournament!
