Cheers to you on a sick singles round, TConn! 36 with only 5 mulligans? Is that an Ice Bucket record?

To Gary V's earlier point of thanking the out-of-towners for supporting the event:
1) You're welcome ;)
2) It's not so much that we flat-landers are angelic, charitable people. It's more that Chris, Pete, Dave, et al make this event a completely unique and fun experience through dedication and force of will. I would probably still attend Ice Bucket if we were raising money for Steve Bannon's birthday party instead of feeding Vermonters in need. The event is genius on so many levels:
* tiered entry fees so everyone can participate regardless of their ability or inclination to donate
* adding new revenue streams every year (beer raffle, rare "bottom-stamped" buzzzes, calendars, ace pot)
* the opportunity to buy mulligans and pretend you're a better golfer than you are
* the gamesmanship that the mully's and best/worst holes add: when to burn your mulligans and when to stand pat
* the high-low dubs format that partners noobs with veterans. This is such a great opportunity to build the sport / club when the experienced players act as ambassadors and encourage the new guys to keep improving and coming back.
* sending every golfer home with a cool / unique prize

I marvel every year at what you guys are able to accomplish and I'm happy to have a small part in it. See you next year!

A few unexpected loose ends are wrapping up as we speak and we will have our final numbers and results posted from this years Ice Bucket!

In the meantime, I want to thank everyone that had anything to do with this event! We had 60 players out enjoying a gorgeous winter day of disc golf for charity. Collectively we are making a very large dent in fighting hunger here in Vermont and we should all be proud of our efforts. This has become a very important event to me personally and I want to thank you all for being involved and coming out to enjoy the day. With that said, there are a TON of thank you's ( in no specific order).....

THANK YOU to the following....

The Beer Raffle: Jim Bailey,Josh Wedel and myself entered our 3rd year with this idea. Each year the raffle gets bigger and better and I want to thank Jim and Josh for spearheading this awesome idea that attracts donations from all over New England and outside the region as well. Now would be a good time to also thank Jim Bailey for making the highly coveted disc boxes. Jim has been a long time contributor to the GMDGC and to the Ice Bucket and he deserves a big THANK YOU! The brain child behind the idea though is Josh Wedel, as he comes out of the disc golf wilderness to help us fight hunger. Josh came up with this idea a few years ago and it has become an Ice Bucket classic as disc golfers and craft beer lovers unite to support the cause. BIG THANKS to Josh Wedel for spearheading this effort!

Chris Sherwin: Chris has hand blown our snow people glass trophies the past 6-7 years!! Many of you may or may not know Chris, but when you see a guy out on the course ripping a nice shot with a DG bag attached to his leg, say THANK YOU to him! That is Chris Sherwin and he blows amazing glass and he continues to donate the trophies for the Ice Bucket, which is something all players strive to get. Thanks Chris!

Matt Marro: I picked M@ as this years Top Volunteer because of all he has done over the years for this event! Matt continues to volunteer his time and his craft to the Ice Bucket. A couple of years ago he not only volunteered his artwork for the event, but he also was coming out to play AND was in the Top 2 for fundraising. Matt has volunteered countless hours towards disc golf and towards fighing hunger and deserves a very LARGE THANK YOU!

Pete Hess: Pete is the man behind the screen. He has the biggest task the day of the event and without him I would not be able to pull this off. Pete has been there every step of the way and longer then anyone with this event and he deserves a BIG THANK YOU! I also awarded Pete the GMDGC Volunteer of the Year award as he has stepped down from his Treasurer position with the Club. Pete helped start the GMDGC and laid the groundwork for what we have today. Pete has clocked many, many hours of volunteer time for Vermont DG and I hope you will join me in letting him know your thanks when you see him next!

Dave Frothingham: Dave has won this event several times and has also volunteered a LOT of hours into the Ice Bucket over the years. You know those hand warmers that you need? Dave takes care of it. Helping with the prize board or the scoreport? Dave's on it. Overseeing the Club memberships that begin to roll in? Dave's doing it. Picking up prizes, yup he's doing that too. Watching Pete and Dave run events made it look easy and made me want to get involved and we all owe a VERY LARGE THANK YOU to Dave!

Mary Cosgrove: Without Mary we would all be scrambling for a seat and a hot bowl of chili! While we are all out playing, Mary is getting ready for lunch, helping with prizes and cleaning up when the day is done. Mary has a few snow people trophies at home for continually coming out and helping us every year and I want to give her a BIG THANK YOU for all that she does with this event!

Jordan Potvin: Jordan is last years winner and due to an accident was not able to attend this year to defend, but you can gurantee that with a move back to Vermont in the coming weeks, he will be hungry next year to get his title back! Although he was unable to repeat as Ice Bucket Champion, he did repeat as this years Top Fundraiser, taking home a $50 gift card to Hen of the Wood and a Sherwin trophy! Jordan has hit the streets powerfully the past 2 years asking friends, family and co-workers to donate to our event and it has paid off! BIG thanks to Jordan for his continual efforts, as not everyone can do what he is able to.

Thanks to Andy Powell,Matt Zabawa,Gary Vigue,Marcos Miller,Josh Rappeport and anyone else that helped with setup and breakdown and scoring. There are so many people to thank and if I missed anyone I apologize.

Thanks to Steve Valkenberg for taking the group photo and for his photo work with the fundraiser GMDGC calendar! Steve also donated a McBeth print from the GMC ( which I took as my prize!) for the event and took photos all throughout the day. Steve continues to volunteer his time to make VT disc golf even better then it is and for that we owe a THANK YOU!

Thanks to the Breweries that donated to the beer raffle!... Switchback,Lawsons,Alchemist,Stowe Cider,Idyletyme,2Roads,Zero Gravity and Goodwater! Craft beer and disc golf are a great team and I am excited to see our crafts work together more and more in the future. THANKS to all the breweries that helped in this effort!

BIG THANKS to Vibram disc golf for donating a 40% off voucher to EVERY player in attendance! Vibram also donated some awesome prizes and I would like to thank Tyler and Vibram for all that they do to support our event every year!

Thanks to the Farmhouse Tap and Grill for helping us raise just over $900 in the January special burger program! I was very excited to be able to work directly with this effort on a nightly basis talking to guests about disc golf and fighting hunger made for a great month for me at work. THANKS Farmhouse for supporting our efforts to fight hunger!

Thanks to the Lamoille Community Food Share for gathering a TON of prizes for us! And did I mention the drone footage? Its awesome to get a birds eye view of the event in action! It's been a pleasure to get to work with the LCFS and I look forward to many more years of it!

With well over 40 business donating prizes, I would like to give a BIG THANKS to them all! Some have been around since the begining and some are new this year. This always takes more time and effort then I think it will coordinating confirmed prizes, what it is, how I will get it,etc. But, it is something that I cherish as we all get together as a community and tackle food insecurity together. Every player goes home with a prize as a thank you for coming out, playing and donating. Without all the prizes the Ice Bucket would not be nearly as successful over the years and so THANK YOU to all that donated a prize for this years event!

Thank you to the 60 players that came out to raise money for our neighbors who need a hand! As I said, this is very important to many people in our state and I hope everyone feels proud to be able to help in our national effort to fight hunger. As a part of over 200 Ice Bowls worldwide we are raising hundreds of thousands of dollars every year! Thank you for participating and for donating and I hope to see you next year as we do it again!

Stay tuned for final event results and money raised........

Everything has now been accounted for and after paying the Grange and a few miscalculations by Pete and myself our total money raised is.....$14,100!!!

This is an enormous effort that we should all be proud of, as we are making a positive impact on fighting hunger here in Vermont. Thank you again to everyone who contributed in any way possible. We will be sending the food shelfs the checks and finalizing our event with Ice Bowl Headquarters this week!
